Photo Restoration Process

Lotus Flower Imaging Solutions uses digital techniques to repair faded, cracked, torn and/or stained photos. The original photos are scanned into a digital format and all photo restoration work is then performed on a computer. The original photo remains untouched during the restoration process. Once restored, the photo is then printed with your choice of either archival printer or traditional photographic process.

Our photo restoration service

Some photos need more work than others to bring them back to their original appearance. Because of this, the cost for our photo restoration service is based on the amount of damage to the photo. In general, the amount of photo restoration needed can be categorized in the following ways:

Minor restoration: Minor scratches, fading or discolorization.

Moderate restoration: Cracks or tears in non-detailed areas, staining between 20-40% of the photo.

Extensive restoration: Cracks or tears in detailed areas (esp. faces), missing pieces, staining of more than 40% of the photo, major fading or darkening.

These categories are provided to allow you to estimate the condition of your photograph. Lotus Flower Imaging Solutions considers each photo to be unique and the amount of work that will be necessary in the restoration process can only be determined once we actually see the photo.
